Strathglass Complex SAC
DCS received an Expression of Concern relating to the grazing impacts on some of the 13 habitats for which the Strathglass Complex qualifies as an SAC.
A baseline survey assessing deer impact was carried out in Autumn 2004 which indicated concern about deterioration to 6 habitat types. For upland habitats this relates to widespread, moderate impact across the site.
DCS met with the estates, SNH and DMG representatives in July 2005 to discuss in more detail the results of the survey and proposals to address these impacts, in the form of a detailed Deer Management Plan, have been agreed with the estates involved.
